Cromwell ER1 Helmet Selected by South African Paramedics

Paramedic Helmet - South AfricaFollowing an assessment and evaluation process, the Western Cape Province Emergency Medical Rescue Service has selected the Cromwell ER1 paramedic helmet for its rescue teams. Helmets have also been supplied to two paramedic training centres with more to follow.

The contract was won late last year by manufacturer Helmet Integrated Systems Ltd in partnership with it’s in country distributor Environmental Safety Systems based in Edgemead, South Africa. Robin Gibbs from Environmental Safety Systems commented: "Once they had seen and tried the helmet, it was contest over."

The agreement represents yet another success story for the Cromwell ER1 helmet, which is now in use by Police, Fire, USAR and other Emergency Rescue teams throughout the world. The paramedic helmet with integrated visor certificated to EN 166:2001, faced competition from other international manufacturers as well as some local suppliers within a competitive tendering exercise.

More than 1300 helmets have been supplied with colour coded trim and markings for doctors, paramedics and lecturers alike. Delivery took place in December 2009 with the helmets distributed throughout the many rescue depots across the province.

Designed to comply with international standards and weighing less than 800 grams, the Cromwell ER1 helmet is manufactured from heat and impact resistant thermoplastic and has an integral polycarbonate optically correct retractable protective visor. The headband, browpad, and chinstrap are adjustable to fit any size and crucially donning adjustments can be made with gloved hands.
