Further Investment in Helmet Manufacturing

Autoclave - Helmet ManufacturingHelmet Integrated Systems Ltd has recently taken delivery of a new state of the art Autoclave manufacturing system. Used in the production of our F35 Lighting II (Joint Strike Fighter) aircrew helmets, the pressure vessel and oven applies heat, pressure and vacuum at controlled rates during the helmet manufacturing process.

The investment in the system represents an upgrade for the company’s manufacturing plant in Stranraer, UK, further emphasising our commitment to the military pilot helmet sector. The machine also provides levels of accuracy not previously achievable in the manufacturing process, particularly for our F35 Lighting II Joint Strike Fighter aircrew helmets and other integrated helmet projects.

Research and Development Manager, Martin Gouldthorpe, commented:

"The new Autoclave system allows us to produce composite parts with very detailed levels of control. The PC based control system allows full diagnostics, recipe handling and history recording. This is particularly important during the manufacture of helmet shells where traceability and consistency of manufacture are key to the performance of the helmet."

Managing Director and Chairman, Mr Ian Hoyle, added:

"We are pleased to continue our investment in our helmet manufacturing plant in Scotland. This new equipment will continue to push the boundaries of what we can achieve, putting us firmly at the forefront of the industry and cementing our place as one of the world’s leading manufacturers of helmet technology and associated equipment."
